Torre to Stay
Joe Torre announced today he will be back with the New York Yankees in 2007, ending speculation that Lou Pinella might be going to New York, and increasing speculation that he will be the next Chicago Cubs manager, as reported here on this blog and at www.spikesballparks.com . Stay tuned.

For those of you doing downward facing dog you may have missed that baseball lost a treasure on October 6th. Buck O'Neil passed away on October 6th. He was a wealth of knowledge about baseball and the struggles for race equality. I had the pleasure of meeting the man a couple of times and he was the nicest man I have ever met.
